When you are considering the referral of your patients to a periodontist there are undoubtedly certain requirements that you need met.
First and foremost, he or she must provide the best possible care using up-to-date techniques and materials.
Your patients must be treated with compassion and respect.
You will be informed of the results of your patients' examination and be able to consult in the proposed treatment plan.
You will be kept apprised of and feel welcome to inquire as to their progress.
Your patients will be referred back to you in a timely manner, ready for further treatment.
Your choice of specialist should be an extension of your practice which reflects your expertise and concern for your patients' well-being.
Every successful team needs good direction and leadership. Your role as the Leader of your patient's Dental Team is emphasized from the first appointment. This is particularly important when considering implant therapy. Patients are always encouraged to return to you for restorative care when it is required during periodontal therapy.
At the completion of the active phase of treatment, your patients will be immediately referred for completion of their restorative work. We believe alternating recall is the cornerstone of long-lasting, comprehensive dental treatment. Therefore, we will work together with your front office to schedule recalls in a timely manner.
Many practitioners are often apprehensive of "losing" their patients to the periodontist for treatment, only to have them "reappear" unexpectedly for further restorative care. You will always be informed of your patient's progress, beginning with a letter outlining the results of the initial examination and the proposed treatment plan.
We are delighted to consult with you on any aspect of the treatment plan, particularly the restoration of periodontally compromised teeth and dental implants. In fact, we would expect nothing less than to work in concert with you and your staff in order to realize your treatment goals.
One of the most exciting aspects of our profession today is the field of implant dentistry. As satisfying as implant-supported restorations can be for our patients, they can also be daunting for those with limited experience in placing and restoring implants.
We work closely with our referring dentists and our local implant company representatives to provide comprehensive restorative support. Whether you prefer single-stage or two-stage (external hex) implants, we can help you realize your restorative goals.
We are acutely aware that restoring your first few implants can be a daunting task, especially if you do not have a prosthetic kit. We can make it easier by:
Working closely with you during the treatment planning stage.
Arranging for you the use of our prosthetic kit (so you don't have to buy one of your own right away).
Arranging for an experienced, knowledgeable company representative to be chairside to help guide you through the necessary steps.
If all of this is more than you would like to do, we can even send the patient to you with the abutments placed and ready to impress and temporize - conventional crown and bridge! Give us a call and let us know how we can help.
Today there is an ongoing paradigm shift in dentistry that incorporates more and more aspects of periodontics into general practice. Our office supports your efforts by serving as a source of information and continuing education. We welcome any and all of our colleagues who would like to schedule time to come by and observe, or feel free to call us with your questions.
Our doctors and staff remain current with all of the latest techniques and concepts in periodontics and implant dentistry. What this means to you and your patients is nothing less than the most effective, state-of-the-art treatment.
Our doctors are also regular contributors to the scientific literature and are available for continuing education presentations or Lunch-and-Learn seminars. Whether it is a group of 2 or 200, please call us to schedule a convenient time and location. We can even help you with arrangements, if you so require.
Our goal is to have every patient leave our office satisfied and happy because you referred them to us. We try and achieve this through communication and patient education. We will inform patients of their condition and all of the treatment options available in order to empower them with the ability to take an active role in the control of their disease.
We welcome new patients and would like to see those people that you think would benefit by seeing us.
We understand that your reputation is at stake with every referral. We value and promote the tremendous benefits a good practitioner/periodontist relationship can foster. The ultimate result is the quality of care of our practices is elevated to new heights---and it is our patients who reap the benefits!
