Broken Tooth Causing Pain Replaced with Dental Implant

Kennelly, John

The patient presented is a 48 year old Caucasian male that was experiencing pain due to a broken tooth #8.

Due to periapical infection tooth #8 was extracted to remove the infection. Bone graft was then needed to regenerate bone loss in the affected site due to infection.

The bone graft material and membrane was placed to exclude epithelial in growth and to keep bone particles intact for optimal healing.

The area was then prepared for an implant to be placed in socket #8.

A dental implant is a conservative alternative to a bridge and will eliminate the need to remove any tooth structure on the adjacent healthy teeth.
